Monza is a city on the river Lambro, a tributary of the Po, in the Lombardy region of Italy 15km north-northeast of Milan.

 

On the outskirts of Milan lies one of the oldest tracks in Formula 1. The first track was built from May to July 1922 by 3,500 workers, financed by the Milan Automobile Club. There was major rebuilding in 1939, constructing new stands and entrances, resurfacing the track, moving portions of the track and adding two new bends. It is best known for its Grand Prix motor racing circuit, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
