San Francisco enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with mild, wet winters and dry summers. Surrounded on three sides by water, San Francisco’s climate is moderated by the cool currents of the Pacific Ocean, producing remarkably mild weather with little seasonal temperature variation. One of the side effects of the combination of cold ocean currents and warm land is the famous San Francisco fog – during the spring and early summer it is possible for the western half of the city to be completely fogbound all day!
