Faro is the capital of the Algarve region of Portugal, in the sunny south of the country. The town itself shows Moorish roots in architecture, and has many things to do and see, including the seaport and marina, as well as shopping, eating out, the famous nightlife of this entire region and the city’s archaelogical museum, within the walls of a 16thC convent. Faro also is the site of the nature-reserve of Ria Formosa lagoon, the wintering area for hundreds of species of bird in the migratory periods.
In a motorhome, however, you are not just tied to Faro itself. You can have an archaeological tour, seeing the Roman and Moorish remains in the nearby towns and sites such as Estói. The famous beaches are all around, of course, and you are free to find quieter, less touristy ones than those nearest the cities. Golfing, tennis and horse-riding are all well-established activities in the region, for the more sporty people, as well as hillwalking and hiking.
It is possible to travel to all EU countries with your motorhome rental; there are no restrictions. However, we would recommend the coast of Portugal for its beauty and sandy beaches, so don’t be in too much of a hurry to leave this beautiful country behind unexplored!
Motorhomes (RVs in the US and campervans in many parts of Europe) are an ideal way to discover the long sandy beaches of Portugal as you can use your camping car to stay at some remote locations.
We offer excellent motorhome or campervan hire rates for Portugal. To get a motorhome hire quotation is easy, just go to the Motorhome Hire section on our website and use our quotation and campervan booking engine.
